Traders of all hues into gold smuggling

Realtors, garment store owners, tailors, hawala operators, cell phone and furniture shop owners are part of the gold smuggling mafia operating in the city.
As part of the probe into the 13 kg gold smuggling case involving Emirates Airline flight stewardess Sadaf Khan and Dubai-based cell phone and wrist watch shop owner Shujat Mohammed Ali, customs department has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
After a month-long probe, the SIT has identified city-based businessman Abdul Khader as the kingpin of the gold smuggling racket and issued summons to Khader and several of his associates to appear before the probe team.
