The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) abruptly stopped its meeting Thursday and evacuated its meeting room “on advice of security" as it prepared to vote to repeal the Obama-era net neutrality rules.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai was in the middle of delivering his statement when he recessed the meeting.

Those in the room were instructed to evacuate, and to leave their belongings.

A bomb-sniffing dog was brought into the room.

The meeting re-convened several minutes later, and Pai said he was acting on the recommendation of the Federal Protective Service.

Pai did not offer any additional details.
