The Philadelphia police department knows the Eagle’s fan base well. Eagles fans are well-known by other NFL fans as some of the most distasteful in football, and the police department is having to prepare for what could be a raucous celebration.
The hometown Eagles are facing the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship Game this weekend, and the stakes are high. The winner moves onto Super Bowl LII. But the City of Philadelphia and the rest of the NFL fans know the Eagles fan base all too well and are getting ready for what could be a chaotic and even violent celebration.
Eagles fans join the New England Patriots, Johnny Manziel, Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick as just a few of the most hated things around the NFL. Surprisingly, Eagles fans are even more hated than Rodger Goodell. Their reputation seems to be preceding them. Plus, the team has never won a Super Bowl, so their fans antics seem a bit overrated.
The Philadelphia Police Department sent a notice to business owners, letting them know that they cannot guarantee the safety of property if the Eagles win the NFC Championship. Seriously.

The police are asking business owners to lock and secure their property from the damage the celebrating fans will likely cause. Not only that, but police are asking bar owners serve drinks in plastic cups instead of glass bottles.
Classic Philly. Those of us who are fans of other teams know how passionate one can get while rooting for your team, but Philadelphia sports fans are often over the line by a wide margin.
That leaves only one more question though: what happens if the Eagles lose?
Like ten people have asked me what happens if the Eagles don't win and the answer is: nothing. Everyone just goes back to being weird and vaguely despondent – aka the Philly status quo

So, there you have it. Reasons why Eagles fans have the reputation that they do: win, and they destroy things; lose, and they sulk and remain silent. Regardless, local business owners in Philadelphia are urged to use a sick day this Sunday, and keep their doors closed and locked. Just in case the Eagles happen to win.
