In the seventieth edition of the Russian Newspapers Monitor, Professor Filip Kovacevic discusses the articles from four Russian newspapers: Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Izvestia, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and Moskovskiy Komsomolets. He discusses the catastrophic political crisis in Ukraine and the possibility of the collapse of the present government structures brought about by severe infighting among various oligarchic clans. In addition, he focuses on the recent changes in the Russian military, including the increase of the numbers of troops and weapons and the likely ban on the use of smart phones. Lastly, he examines the existing ethnic make-up of the Russian Federation and considers what might happen in the next 20 years. The key question here is whether Russia itself will fall victim to the Atlanticist ethnic divide and conquer strategy that doomed the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.
