Angry Anti-Vax Mob to NJ Lawmakers: ‘You Are Going to Hell!’

An angry mob of anti-vaccine parents shook their fists and screamed, “You are going to hell!” and “You Democrats destroy America!” at New Jersey lawmakers who voted to make it harder for families to obtain religious exemptions from immunizations Thursday.

The chaos erupted after the Assembly Health Committee’s vote in Trenton, with video of the five-minute fracas capturing one enraged woman chanting, “Corporate America does not belong in science!” while others hollered, “Sellouts!”

Hundreds showed up to rail against the bill at a hearing ahead of the vote, including one opponent who drew parallels to her Jewish grandparents fleeing Europe to avoid persecution.

“What will be the litmus test? Who will be the one to enforce it?” testified Hilary Bilkis of Rockaway, according to NJ 101.5.

The bill, which passed the committee 7-3, will require families to provide schools with a notarized document explaining how vaccination “would violate, contradict, or otherwise be inconsistent” with their religious beliefs, to show their objection isn’t about “philosophical” or “safety” concerns.

The families who packed the Statehouse were irate at the idea of the state passing judgment on their faith.

“A parent’s choice is none of your business,” Ashley Blackwell of Old Bridge told the panel, saying she “could not go against the word of God” by allowing her child to be injected with vaccines developed using aborted fetal tissue, NJ.com reports.

After some 60 people testified against the bill, opponents continued to heckle the lawmakers as they voted — then erupted when the meeting was called to an end.
