Perhaps he was not communicating as a free market individual, but as one who believed that, left unchecked, liberty would actually consume those social media networks and give light and truth to the corruption that he supports all across the world.

I honestly wonder why billionaire George Soros has not been arrested and justice been brought upon him for his actions, especially knowing what he did in Nazi Germany and what he and the organizations he funds do in countries around the world.

Take a listen to George Soros at the World Economic Forum in Davos back in January 2018.  The comments regarding Facebook and Google begin around the 12:05 mark.

“As Facebook and Google have grown into ever more powerful monopolies, they have become obstacles to innovation, and they have caused a variety of problems of which we are only now beginning to become aware,” he said, according to the transcript.

“They claim they are merely distributing information. But the fact that they are near-monopoly distributors makes them public utilities and should subject them to more stringent regulations, aimed at preserving competition, innovation, and fair and open universal access,” he added.

“The power to shape people’s attention is increasingly concentrated in the hands of a few companies,” he continued.  “It takes a real effort to assert and defend what John Stuart Mill called ‘the freedom of mind’. There is a possibility that once lost, people who grow up in the digital age will have difficulty in regaining it. This may have far-reaching political consequences.”

According to Soros, there is a temptation among these companies to work with authoritarian regimes, such as China, to gain access to those markets, which “may well result in a web of totalitarian control the likes of which not even Aldous Huxley or George Orwell could have imagined.”

“Davos is a good place to announce that their days are numbered,” Soros said.

Well, why would Soros have a problem with authoritarian regimes?  Didn’t he support the likes of Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah and Hillary Clinton?  Doesn’t he support migrants flooding into Europe who only know authoritarian ideology?

Why yes, yes he does!

He then went on to literally take the cake when it comes to hypocrisy.

“Mining and oil companies exploit the physical environment; social media companies exploit the social environment,” said Soros.  “This is particularly nefarious because social media companies influence how people think and behave without them even being aware of it. This has far-reaching adverse consequences on the functioning of democracy, particularly on the integrity of elections.”

And his funding organizations that attempt to influence the political processes in countries doesn’t do that?  Hello pot, this is kettle.

Following his speech, the billionaire philanthropist and investor sold his Facebook stock, but bought up Twitter and Snap stocks.  I ask, what is the difference really between those?  Sure the platforms of communication are a little different, but overall, it presents the same problems that Soros was complaining about.

Frankly, it’s amazing that a man who has made his fortune largely on the suffering of others and invested in totalitarian-minded individuals, masquerading as those who are for the people, would come out and say what he is saying here.
