Former Vice President Joe Biden’s niece dodged jail time on Thursday after receiving only two years probation when she admitted to committing $110,000 in credit card fraud at a New York City store.

Thirty-one-year old Caroline Biden, who reportedly has had a history of alcohol and substance abuse, told Justice Curtis Farber of the Manhattan Supreme Court that she was sorry on Thursday. Biden insisted she had “made amends” and would not make the same mistakes again. “I not only acknowledge my conduct and take responsibility but deeply regret the harm caused,” she stated, as reported by the New York Post. “I can assure you that I have made amends, full restitution, completed community service, and that nothing like this will ever happen again,” she said.

The charges stem from an unauthorized shopping spree at a Greenwich Village pharmacy where she racked up over $100,000 on someone else’s credit card. According to the New York Post, Biden was busted in 2017 after using the victim’s Chase card over the course of a year at Bigelow’s pharmacy, where the majority of her purchase was for face creams that cost hundred of dollars per container.

According to prosecutors, Biden was given permission by the victim to make a single purchase totaling $672, but she used the card to open a customer account at the Manhattan pharmacy without the card holder’s consent and racked up an additional $109,328 over the course of a year!!

This was not Biden’s first run in with the law, however. In 2013, she was charged with hitting a police officer during a dispute with her roommate over rent. She got treatment for her anger issues, and the resisting-arrest case was dismissed, according to Fox News.
