The NYT: Part of a Diabolical Anti-Trump Cabal

7-9-2018 < SGT Report 83 680 words

by Stephen Lendman, Stephen Lendman:

There’s plenty about Trump to criticize. The same goes for all US presidents, along with the vast majority of House and Senate members – notably since the neoliberal 90s, mainly post-9/11.

Profiles of courage in Washington are near-extinct. Rare exceptions prove the rule.

Long knives in the nation’s capital aim to oust Trump from office for the wrong reasons – largely comprised of undemocratic Dems, pro-Hillary loyalists, and the NYT-led dominant media.

Some Republicans are likely involved, including one or more administration fifth column figures – plotting a coup like the plot against Richard Nixon, forcing his resignation on trumped up charges.

Trump’s advocacy for increased militarism, endless wars, fealty to Wall Street, and support for other corporate interests aren’t enough to counteract dark forces against him.

His outsized ego, bombast, bravado, arrogance, lack of political experience before entering office, and unpredictability make it easy to bash him. His low approval rating since taking office shows it.

The NYT supports wealth, power and privileged interests exclusively, its reports on geopolitical and other issues polar opposite what good journalism is supposed to be.

It waged war on Trump throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, continuing during his time in office – furious over DJT’s triumphing over media darling Hillary.

On September 5, the self-styled newspaper of record disgracefully published an anonymous op-ed titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.”

Journalistic anonymity is always suspect. Anyone unwilling to be identified lacks credibility. The so-called opinion piece is a hatchet job – allied with dark forces and media scoundrels involved in a slow-motion coup d’etat to oust Trump from office for the wrong reasons.

The Times disgraced itself by allying with what’s going on – taking perhaps the unprecedented step of publishing an anonymous anti-Trump hit piece by a DJT insider opponent.

The Times saying it published an anonymous piece at the request of “a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure” is unacceptable.

An unidentified individual could be anyone, including someone other than what the Times claimed.

If one or more regime officials are hostile to Trump, why don’t they leave and go public as private citizens, their fundamental right.

According to the op-ed writer (OEW below), “many…senior officials in his…administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.”

OEW claims to be “one of them,” on the one hand saying “many (DJT) policies…made America safer and more prosperous,” adding:

“(T)he president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.”

“That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office.”

No democratic institutions exist to preserve! Accusations against anyone without supporting them with hard, verifiable evidence are groundless.

The Trump regime’s most egregious offenses aren’t mentioned by undemocratic Dems, hostile media, or fifth column regime insiders.

They include policies initiated by previous US regimes, namely: war on humanity at home and abroad, neoliberal harshness, aiming to destroy social justice, allying with Israel’s killing machine, continuing the transfer of wealth from ordinary Americans to its privileged class, and targeting all sovereign independent governments for regime change, among other major offenses.

OEW claimed Trump opposes “free minds, free markets and free people.” He calls “the press ‘the enemy of the people…(His) impulses are…anti-trade and anti-democratic.”

So-called free markets and free trade aren’t fair. DJT is wrongheaded about most things, a deplorable figure unfit for any public office.

So were the Clintons, Bush/Cheney, Obama, and other US presidents. No leader in the nation’s history has been targeted by hostile forces more viciously than DJT – aiming to prevent his election, plotting his removal for the wrong reasons, ignoring the right ones.
