Second child dies in custody - U.S. immigration authorities
An eight-year-old boy from Guatemala died at a detention facility on Tuesday night, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has said. This is the second immigrant child this month to die in custody.
The agency says the boy showed “signs of potential illness” Monday and was diagnosed with cold and fever in a hospital in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where he was taken with his father. He was given medications and released,only to be back in the evening with nausea and vomiting, according to AP.
He died after midnight on Tuesday.
