You’ve Been Stoned

by Karl Denninger, Market Ticker:

Roger Stone has been indicted as a result of Mueller’s “probe” on obstruction, false statement and witness tampering charges.

I’d be tempted to say it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy but the facts are that this sort of “process crime” indictment is indicative of the fact that this entire “probe” and its outcomes, thus far, have been so politically-motivated and tainted that each and every one of these is nothing more than a badge of illegitimacy that appears to be a bid for some faction of this nation to declare the government illegitimate exactly as just happened in Venezuela.

Stone has a long history of political “dirty tricks” and association with a huge number of politicians over the years who have pulled all sorts of stunts, some of them of questionable legality.  I find him to be outrageously over the line but there’s a difference between being outrageously over the line in a political context and felonious.  I mean, c’mon — hiring strippers to embarrass a political opponent?  There’s also the infamous game-playing around the Florida Recounts in Bush .v. Gore.  None of that was against the law but it is certainly over the line.

The issue here, however, is that perjury is being selectively prosecuted.  Far more serious perjury occurred when the Steele Dossier was presented to a FISA court by FBI employees who knew it was politically motivated in its production and funding and falsely claimed it had been verified and failed to disclose that it was the work product of a political opposition research team.  That’s perjury too, and it led to the entire investigation that is now being conducted.  Where are the indictments against those people?

That’s not an allegation either; it has now been proved it took place, including the funding chain.

I don’t like Stone and can’t support how he “does his thing” in a political context.  He’s a snake and an *******.  However, being a snake and an ******* is not an indictable offense.

Lying to a FISA court is not only an indictable offense when it gives rise to the spending of millions on investigations it’s an outrageous abuse of process, a series of serious felonies and gives rise to legitimate questioning of the very legitimacy of our government and whether it operates as a Constitutional Republic.
