Venezuela and Trump’s Neo-Neocons

2-5-2019 < Blacklisted News 58 1001 words

In March, The Washington Post reported Trump’s apparent displeasure with his psychopathic neocon national security adviser:

Some officials said Trump grouses at times that Bolton has pursued an independent foreign policy that isn’t always in line with the administration’s “America First” agenda and has berated him for some of his public remarks on the Middle East and North Korea. He has jokingly warned Bolton not to start any wars. But there are no signs that Trump is considering replacing him.

Bolton and the neocons now infesting the White House are all about war, mass murder, starvation, and the engineered immiseration of millions.

The Washington DC-based Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) published a report last Thursday on the effects of US sanctions against Venezuela.

“The 27-page paper was authored by economists Mark Weisbrot and Jeffrey Sachs, who determined that sanctions have ‘inflicted very serious harm to human life’ in Venezuela,” writes Ricardo Vaz for Mint Press.

“The sanctions are depriving Venezuelans of lifesaving medicines, medical equipment, food, and other essential imports,” Weisbrot, Co-Director of CEPR, said in a press release. For his part, Sachs added, “American sanctions are deliberately aiming to wreck Venezuela’s economy and thereby lead to regime change.”

This sort of cruel economic warfare is a violation of international law, but that doesn’t matter—neocons don’t do international law.

The neocons are not alone. The cult of MAGA, or significant faction therein, has absorbed the lies on Venezuela put out by the neocons. They are, in effect, a cheering section for mass murder.

It was the freshman representative Ilhan Omar that brought out the neocon side of the MAGA cultists. She made the mistake of blaming the United States and its neocon-hijacked foreign policy for the deepening crisis in Venezuela.

The robotic evangelical Christian from Indiana, Vice President Mike Pence, has set the stage for shifting blame away from Trump and his neocons. Instead, he has accused Maduro and the socialists for the current state of affairs in Venezuela.

Here is Jim Hoft of The Gateway Pundit:

Admittedly, socialism doesn’t work. It has led to disaster and a huge loss of life world over.

Hoft and the neo-neocons, however, are unwilling to accept an indisputable fact—as pointed out by Weisbrot’s research—that economic sanctions imposed on Venezuela are responsible for the death of 40,000 Venezuelans.

And here is Sara Carter, the “award winning National Security/War Correspondent” for Fox News, Trump’s favorite propaganda network:

It would seem the MAGA cultists are attempting to bury the reality of what is happening in Venezuela with overly simplistic critiques of socialism the have absolutely nothing to do withneocon-neoliberal “creative destruction” operations in asset-rich nations.

That may work with simple-minded MAGA devotees that hang on Trump’s every word—and that of his neocons—but it does not have the same result on Americans not wedded an ideology of conquest and murder.

It requires larger threats for most Americans to get up off the sofa and mindlessly demand the government take out the commies.

For instance, a Cuban Missile Crisis version 2.0, as prognosticated by Florida Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart. From Roll Call:

Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart asserted Tuesday that Russia might already have nuclear missiles stationed in Venezuela as that country’s political turmoil continues to churn in the wake of a disputed presidential election.

Díaz-Balart, a longtime Florida Republican, provided no evidence to support his claim.

In a Tuesday segment on Fox News, host Tucker Carlson pressed Díaz-Balart on whether he thought the Chinese, Russian and Iranian military personnel presence in South America meant those countries might eventually invade the U.S.

This is the same nonsense used by President Reagan to argue in favor of arming and supporting the Contra “freedom fighters” responsible for “a pattern of attacks on civilians, including murder, torture and rape,” according to the International Human Rights Law Group.

“The Sandinistas are just two days’ drive from Harlingen, Texas,” Reagan said. “If we ignore the malignancy of Nicaragua, it will spread and become a mortal threat to the entire New World.”

Díaz-Balart told Tucker Carlson Russian nukes “are already” in Venezuela and this a direct threat to America. The fact Díaz-Balart had no evidence to back up his claim does not matter. Lies folded into lies are now scène à faire for the Trump neocons and the ill-educated MAGA worshippers.

The point here is that Trump—despite his supposed aversion to war—has allowed the neocons to take over foreign policy, as they did under the intellectual midget George W. Bush, and this will inevitably result in war and more war crimes attributed to the “exceptional nation.”

The MAGA cult is not alone. There is no shortage of Democrats calling for Maduro to “step down,” lest he suffer the fate of Gaddafi. Democrat leader Hillary Clinton thought the barbaric anal rape and murder of Gaddafi was truly funny. She laughed about it on national television. The segment alone should have convinced the average American there are psychopaths and sadists at the top.

As for the ill-informed and lied to American people, they will naturally not protest much about the coming US-led mass murder campaign in Venezuela.

It is disturbing to consider the fact millions of Americans are so disinterested in the foreign policy of their government they will not speak out against the coming wars, not only waged against Venezuela and Iran, but possibly Russia and China as well.
