Once again the media, this time led by Buzzfeed, enraged and outraged Democrat politicians and liberals across social media over a story that of course reflected badly on a “white man” that supposedly told a Democrat Georgia state Representative to “go back” to where she came from, with media personalities and verified blue check Twitter users trying to associate the story with President Trump and “racism.”

Also once again, people ran with the tale without bothering to check into the story, all because it fit the “racism” narrative they are trying to push, before the story completely unraveled, showing the “white man” was actually a Cuban Democrat that hates President Trump. Oh, and he didn’t tell her to “go back to where she came from” either.

This is a pattern we have seen over the course of the past three years. A selectively edited video clip goes viral that reflects badly on President Trump and/or a Trump supporter, or a simple “claim” by an actor (remember Smollett?), or a fairy tale posted on social media, and the MSM jumps all over it and pushes the false narrative. The full story or a longer version of the video finally emerges, which shows that entire thing that outraged every liberal online, celebrities, and Democrat politicians, didn’t happen at all the way the initial reporting claimed.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

THE LIES, MISLEADING HEADLINES AND OUTRIGHT FAKE NEWS IS DOCUMENTED

While many in the Independent Media try to document as much as we can of this Trump-era type reporting on the part of the MSM, Sharyl Attkisson, has done an outstanding job of compiling them all on one page, 79 of them to date between August 2016 of July 13, 2019.

Attkisson is not just an Independent journalist  as she was formerly part of the very MSM that has taken to misrepresenting and lying to the general public in a massive propaganda campaign.

Attkisson is a five time Emmy award winner that received Edward R. Morrow award. She spent 21 years at CBS News, as both an investigative correspondent in the Washington bureau and a substitute anchor for the CBS Evening News.

After 21 years she resigned and went on to author a book called ‘Stonewalled’ where she highlights how CBS News refused to provide proper coverage for Obama controversies, such as the attack in Benghazi.

She is now a television host for “Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson,” for Sinclair Broadcast Group which is the largest TV station operator in the US.

In Attkisson’s lengthy “definitive list” of media mistakes in the Trump era, she not only dates each instance, explains and links to the source material, but she also highlights which establishment media outlet jump onto the story without properly vetting it or even attempting to verify. The piece was first published in January 2019, the last update was July 13, 2019, so the latest example described and linked to above has not been added as of yet.

Those outlets named include, New York Times, Washinton Post, MSNBC, CNN, USA Today, TIME, CNBC, Associated Press, ProPublica, Politico, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, BBC, The Guardian, NBC News, ABC News, Newsweek, Bloomberg, MediaIte, CNBC, Axios, Fox TV affiliate in Seattle, Washington, Buzzfeed, UK Telegraph.

It is noteworthy that in multiple cases the same outlets jumped on the same fake or misleading news stories consistently, such as CNN, NYT, Washington Post and multiple television outlets like ABC News and NBC News.

For example, CNN and New York Times reported on 20 of these false and/or misleading stories. The Associated Press joined the fake news brigade a dozen times in her examples. The Washington Post comes in at 11 times.

Before the compilation of this type of egregious reporting, Attkisson describes the state of the media and what the list entails:

Our repeat mistakes involve declaring that Trump’s claims are “lies” when they are matters of opinion, or when the truth between conflicting sources is unknowable; taking Trump’s statements and events out of context; reporting secondhand accounts against Trump without attribution as if they’re established fact; relying on untruthful, conflicted sources; and presenting reporter opinions in news stories—without labeling them as opinions.

What’s worse, we defend ourselves by trying to convince the public that our mistakes are actually a virtue because we (sometimes) correct them. Or we blame Trump for why we’re getting so much wrong. It’s a little bit like a police officer taking someone to jail for DUI, then driving home drunk himself: he may be correct to arrest the suspect, but he should certainly know better than to commit the same violation.

Attkisson’s list is by far the most comprehensive one out there at this time, although I would add one more to the list aside from the one described at the top of this article. Misleading headlines from President Trump’s presidential announcement speech, where the media started the “Trump is a racist” narrative, which they have been pushing ever since. Almost every outlet she does name in her lengthy list, headlined with the claim that “Trump called Mexican immigrants racist,” yet in their articles they show his whole speech where he made it clear he was only talking about some of those illegal immigrants, while calling others good people.

To this day, I still see ignorant liberals still claiming he called “all” Mexican immigrants rapists, which he certainly did not, which they would know if they actually bothered to read past the headlines or even read his entire speech.

WHY DO LIBERALS CONTINUE TO BELIEVE THE MSM?

Independent Media has been documenting the liberal establishment media’s propensity to repeat and share, then report on anything and everything that could possibly reflect badly on President Trump or his supporters without any thought whatsoever as to whether the story is true or not, that doesn’t seem to even be a fleeting thought to them anymore.

While the MSM’s intent is clearly to plant the false narrative into the minds of their dwindling number of followers, one has to look past that to ask “Why do those followers, liberals, online and off, continue to trust people that have been proven to lie to them repeatedly?”

I will stipulate that in some cases, many MSM readers do not read past the headline, and if they do, most do not go back days later to read an article they have already read and in some cases shared with others, to see that a correction has been added, or that the entire article was retracted, or headline changed to reflect the changed narrative, whatever the case may be…. so some simply never see the truth after they have already read the lies.

That excuse for their ignorance does not fly after the whole “Russian collusion” hoax fell apart when Robert Mueller’s report clearly stated the 22 month investigation “did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government…..”
