from TRU News:

The Texas Republican Has Been One Of The President’s Most Outspoken Defenders Against The ‘Russia Narrative.’

President Trump has announced the man he made Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats, is stepping down.

The president made the announcement via Twitter on Sunday afternoon, writing:

“I am pleased to announce that highly respected Congressman John Ratcliffe of Texas will be nominated by me to be the Director of National Intelligence. A former U.S. Attorney, John will lead and inspire greatness for the Country he loves. Dan Coats, the current Director, will be leaving office on August 15th. I would like to thank Dan for his great service to our Country. The Acting Director will be named shortly.”

FOX News reported a short time later that Coats “never saw his 2017 appointment as a long-term proposition.” It quoted a copy of his resignation letter that stated:

“The Intelligence Community is stronger than ever, and increasingly well prepared to meet new challenges and opportunities. As we have previously discussed, I believe it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life.”

Coats and the president frequently disagreed over a number of issues, but most strenuously over allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Rep. Ratcliffe, on the other hand, has been one of the president’s most outspoken defenders on Capitol Hill, and his grilling of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller last week made headlines.

Democrats have tried to assert that Ratcliffe is merely a loyalist and he is not qualified for the job. However, the congressman previously served as Chief of Anti-Terrorism and National Security for the Eastern District of Texas in the Justice Department and in the last Congress, he served as chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection.

In his new job, however, Ratcliffe will be in a position to release all of the details of the FISA warrant applications the Justice Department and FBI submitted in order to spy upon Trump 2016 campaign volunteers Carter Page and George Papadopoulos. That no doubt terrifies a number of “coup” plotters in The Swamp.
