NEW: Big Tech Partnering With Mainstream Media to Fight ‘Fake News’ in 2020 Cycle

by Peter M. D’Abrosca, Laura Loomer:

After a week during which Facebook and other Silicon Valley titans met with several U.S. government intelligence and law enforcement entities to combat “disinformation” heading into the 2020 election, the Orwellian nightmare continues as a mainstream news outlet has joined the mix to fight “fake news.”

“The BBC has partnered with Facebook, Google and Twitter on a strategy to fight fake news and other disinformation campaigns,” Engadget reported. “The effort will include an ‘early warning system’ that lets organizations tell each other when they find false content that ‘threatens human life or disrupts democracy.’”

BBC said that “the emphasis will be on moving quickly and collectively to undermine disinformation before it can take hold,” and that the tech companies will teach users which media outlets to trust via “a joint online media education campaign to support and promote media education messages.”

Regardless of the intentions, the outcome of such a partnership is more likely than not going to be disastrous. We often report on leftist bias among Big Tech companies and the mainstream media.

Just this week, we wrote:

Remember: Google donates vast sums to leftist candidates, and one of its former engineers is on the record saying that the company is rooting against Trump in 2020. The company’s executives and employees actually cried the day after Trump won in 2016, and said that Trump supporters were filled with “fear, xenophobia, hatred.” But don’t worry, I’m sure they can be trusted to work with the same law enforcement entity whose highest level employees said they would be sure to “stop” Trump from winning in 2016.

And then, of course, there’s Facebook.

“Attendees at Wednesday’s meeting will also discuss plans for better coordination of security efforts between tech companies and government agencies — something that didn’t happen in 2016. Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook’s head of cybersecurity policy, was leading the meeting, according to a person familiar with the situation,” according to Bloomberg.

The world’s largest social network couldn’t possibly be biased against conservatives, could it? Oh wait. It banned four of Trump’s top influencers in May: Laura Loomer, Milo Yiannopoulos, Alex Jones, and Paul Joseph Watson, labeling them as “dangerous,” while terror group ISIS operates openly on Facebook’s subsidiary, Instagram.

Twitter regularly bans conservatives too, simply for stating conservative opinions. The bans come under the pretext of dubious “terms of service violations.”

The potential for such a partnership to label all conservative news sources as “fake news” and nuke them from social media, thus tilting the scales in favor of the Democrat Party’s presidential nominee, is high. Trump-supporting network InfoWars is already totally banned from Facebook.
