Over three dozen people have been killed after a fire erupted in a house in New Delhi, trapping scores of laborers inside the burning building. Multiple fire units were rushed to the scene in attempt to put down the flames.

The blaze broke out in the early hours of Sunday, at about 5:30 a.m., when dozens of workers were sleeping inside the factory building in Aanaj Mandi area near downtown New Dehli. The fire has spread rapidly through the building, leaving dozens of laborers, oblivious to what was happening, exposed to the fire and smoke

"A fire broke out in a 600 sq feet plot. It was very dark inside. It is a factory where school bags, bottles and other materials were kept,” The Times of India cited deputy fire chief officer Sunil Choudhary as saying.
