The World Anti-Doping Agency WADA banned Russia on Monday, after it was alleged to have manipulated data in a Moscow anti-doping laboratory. Russia is now suspended from all major sporting events for four years – where the Russian flag is banned from flying at the next two Olympic Games, as well as the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, should Russia qualify for the finals. Upon closer examination, this latest US-led move seems to be part of the West’s renewed Cold War designed to punish and isolate Russia from the international community, and weaken the Putin government at home.
