AB5 And Insanity

by Karl Denninger, Market Ticker:

The screaming coming from people on Californicated’s AB5 is hilariously funny. Here’s one example:

For better or worse, you will very likely be reading a lot less of me on Mediaite.com in 2020.

….

Of course, it is difficult to overstate the irony of a progressive Democrat creating a law which, as one tiny impact of thousands, will help mute a strong, national, anti-Trump voice in what will likely be a very close election year. In fact, it is hard to think of anything which better encapsulates the ridiculousness of what California’s one-party progressive rule has routinely triggered than this entire fiasco (Gonzalez, who represents an overwhelming Democratic district along the border, has zero fear of being ousted at the ballot box over this outrage she has created).

Yep, the answer to Democrat insanity is…… not to get rid of them all?

Naw, the answer is to whine that it “muted” a strong, national anti-Trust voice.

Because, you know, said author can’t write on their own platform.  And promote it.  And, well, tell Mediaite to go stick it up their ass.

After all, could Mediaite leave California?  Certainly.  They could have done it prior to January 1st.  They could do it tomorrow.  They could do it, well, at any time.  But they have chosen not to.

Further, the whining goes on with this nonsense:

As for the draconian restrictions on freelance writers (just one of many categories of workers negatively impacted by the law), they are straight out of the George Orwell’s prescient 1984 novel. Gonzalez has admitted that there was no real logic to the 35 number and that, at best, it is based on an extremely antiquated notion of how often you need to submit work in the Internet era in order to get paid anything close to legitimate paycheck.

That’s right, because just one legislator created and caused to come into effect this law.  Just one!  Why, Gonzalez is a damned dictator, right?

Oh wait — it wasn’t just one, was it?

No, it was the entirety of the California Legislature, in both houses.  And it was the governor, Pelosi’s brother in law, who signed the damn thing!

Of course Pelosi, Brown (remember him?), Getty and Newsom are all sleeping with each other and have been screwing one another for three generations.  That is, when they’re not too busy screwing everyone who lives there.

So don’t give me all this bull**** about how there’s some tiny, singular thing going on here.  That’s a bald-faced lie.

The facts are that every one of these crazy SOBs have been at it hosing the people of California, and everyone else they can get their claws into, for those same three generations.  Further, all of these so-called “Woke” folks have cheered every bit of this crap on — right up until they got it up the ass, at which point you hear the squealing.

Where was the complaint when everyone else was getting screwed?  When tens of thousands of people were forced out of reasonable housing and many of them ended up on the street?  When the entirety of San Francisco turned into a turd-world craphole, quite literally with piles of crap on the sidewalk?  When large developments burnt to the ground both due to government demands that PG&E not perform reasonable maintenance on rights-of-way (“clear that brush would be so anti-environmental!”) while at the same time permitting housing to be built with no defensible perimeter and out of combustible materials — after all, “it’s so ugly if you can’t have that shake roof and cedar siding!”
