Rand Paul Slams James Comey: FBI Dropped Ball On Domestic Terrorists Who Killed 70 People

by Alicia Luke, Freedom OutPost:

The FBI missed opportunities to stop domestic terrorists from murdering Americans because they failed to conduct follow-up investigations of people identified as violent extremists, the Justice Department watchdog said in a brutal report released this week.

The lapses allowed perpetrators of some of the most deadly violent attacks in recent history to fall through the cracks. Among them were:

⦁ Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, in 2016.

⦁ Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who killed three people at the Boston Marathon in 2013.

⦁ Nidal Hasan, who massacred 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009.

⦁ Esteban Santiago, who killed five people in a 2017 attack at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

TDW:

According to an inspector general report released Wednesday, the FBI missed opportunities to stop at least five domestic terrorists who, in total, killed 70 Americans.

“[Inspector General] report finds HVEs (Homegrown Violent Extremists) carried out 20+ attacks (since 9/11) in US, ‘some of which occurred after the FBI closed a counterterrorism investigation..FBI has not taken sufficient action to address weaknesses,” CBS News’ Catherine Herridge reported Wednesday.

In a follow-up tweet, Herridge added: “New IG report ‘…we found at least six attacks committed in the United States by individuals who the FBI had previously assessed or investigated…’ including 2009 Fort Hood, 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, 2016 Pulse Nightclub.”
