Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department locks down entire residential neighborhood due to coronavirus outbreak

ROCKLIN, Calif. (INTELLIHUB) — Residents of a Sacramento suburb were shocked when they found themselves forcefully quarantined by police for some time on Friday after a man died after contracting the deadly COVID-19 disease.

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies and Rocklin Police sealed off the area and were spotted wearing personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves while a police chopper circled the block from overhead ordering residents back into their homes.

The Placer County Health Department issued a statement after the lockdown stating: “Law enforcement partners are currently responding to enforce a health officer’s order. We cannot share any additional information to protect patient confidentiality.”

Local WIBW 13 reports:

The orders were given under sections of California Health and Safety Code that allows Placer Health to “enforce regulations requiring strict isolation, or quarantine if the action is necessary for the protection of the public health.”

The lockdown comes after a man, 71, died from complications of the virus.
