The Deep State took an enormous hit today, as General Michael Flynn appears to be headed for freedom…and President Donald Trump certainly wasn’t going to miss this opportunity to take a shot at the previous administration.

Flynn had been charged with lying to the FBI during the Robert Mueller-led “RussiaGate” investigation, and was currently engrossed in a legal battle to withdraw his earlier guilty plea, which came under the advisement of his previous, less-than-satisfactory legal team.

Just days ago, a stunning revelation came in the form of a handwritten note by an FBI agent set to interview Flynn during this investigation, in which the Bureau spook openly suggested that Flynn be tricked into lying in order to charge him.

Thanks to this revelation, the Department of Justice dropped the case against Flynn completely, spurring a stunning statement from President Donald Trump.

Trump, who has long castigated the Russia investigation as a “witch hunt,” on Thursday decried FBI officials as “dishonest, crooked people” and “scum” and accused the Obama administration of unfairly targeting his campaign, suggesting at one point agents were guilty of treason. A Justice Department inspector general review completed last year found no evidence that FBI agents were motivated by bias in the decision to open the Russia probe, however.

The Justice Department’s move Thursday was met with cheers from the president’s allies.

“Finally justice has been done in the case of General Flynn,” tweeted Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney who represented him during the Mueller investigation.
