Trump to governors: ‘You’re weak’

After a weekend that saw police clash with demonstrators across the country and in downtown Boston, President Donald Trump told governors on a conference call Monday morning that many of them are “weak” and need to more forcefully crack down on violent protesters.


“You have to dominate,” Trump said on the call, according to The New York Times. “If you don’t dominate, you’re wasting your time — they’re going to run over you, you’re going to look like a bunch of jerks.”



It was not clear whether Gov. Charlie Baker, a Republican governor who does not support the president, was on the conference call. The White House listed it on Trump’s public schedule without detailing the participants and Baker’s office did not respond to the News Service asking if Baker was on the call. Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo did participate in the call, her office confirmed to Ted Nesi of WPRI.
