George Washington to Ulysses S. Grant: Statues, monuments vandalized extend beyond Confederates
Apparently, monuments to abolitionists, lynched African-Americans, and victims of Armenian genocide have been vandalized. If the contents of this article are true (it is FOX, after all), it would seem to confirm something that I have been thinking, which is that in addition to the Blue Tribe Khomeinists/SJW Talibanists, the outpouring of statuephobia we have seen lately is being driven by a lot of people who aren’t even particularly political. Instead, vandalizing statues has become a fad like streaking in the early 70s or the hula hoop in the 1950s.
Historic monuments and statues have become the targets of anger and vandalism during Black Lives Matter protests in the wake of George Floyd‘s police custody death at the end of May.
The initial statues under fire were Confederate soldiers and generals largely in the South due to the treatment of African-Americans, but the anger has spread to monuments of all backgrounds — including former U.S. presidents — many of which have been torn down, and some have been officially removed.
