The plan was to have Trump deliver remarks at a grand event in Florida next month, but he says how he will deliver those words is now to be determined. The North Carolina portion of the convention, where delegates choose the party's nominee, will however go forward as planned.
After the North Carolina governor called for a more limited event for Trump's acceptance speech, diet to the coronavirus pandemic, the president partially relocated the convention events to Florida. The move, however, raised concerns because of rising coronavirus cases in the state, as well as security issues with the change being so last minute.
Florida, one the first states on lockdown to begin their 'reopening process' only to walk it back days later, has recorded over 390,000 cases of Covid-19 and over 5,500 deaths from the virus.
