(Natural News) Should the election on Nov. 3 turn “chaotic” or “violent,” social media giant Facebook is planning to unleash the censors in order to silence user accounts suspected of spreading “misinformation.”

Speaking to the Financial Times (FT), Nick Clegg, Facebook’s head of global affairs, indicated that the Silicon Valley behemoth is already drawing up contingency plans “for how to handle a range of outcomes, including widespread civic unrest or ‘the political dilemmas’ of having in-person votes counted more rapidly than mail-in ballots.”

Piggy-backing on statements recently made by Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s head, about how the election process could take additional days or even weeks to get sorted out, Clegg suggested that certain emergency measures may need to be implemented by Facebook to help quell the chaos.

“There are some break-glass options available to us if there really is an extremely chaotic and, worse still, violent set of circumstances,” Clegg is quoted as saying, stopping short of actually elaborating on what these options might be.

To be fair, Facebook is said to be under immense pressure to do something! about the very real threat of chaos and violence stemming from the election’s outcome, or lack thereof should a winner not be verified in a timely manner.

Keep in mind that the FT has already laid the groundwork for chaos and violence, specifically pegging it on President Trump, whom the paper says, “could take to social media to contest the result or call for violent protest, potentially triggering a constitutional crisis.”

Facebook admits to interfering with elections in other countries in the past

Should Facebook decide to interfere by, say, blocking the president’s account, or the accounts of some of his most vocal and popular supporters, it would not be the first time that the social media platform has meddled with the democratic process.

Clegg indicated that Facebook has already done this type of thing before in “other parts of the world,” having “acted aggressively … where we think that there is real civic instability and we obviously have the tools to do that [again].”

Though Clegg did not specify which countries were affected by Facebook’s meddling, he did further explain that the platform utilized “pretty exceptional measures to significantly restrict the circulation of content on our platform.”

Facebook has supposedly conjured up contingency plans for about 70 different election scenarios, any one of which will have to first be approved by Zuckerberg and other higher-ups before being executed.

“We’ve slightly reorganized things such that we have a fairly tight arrangement by which decisions are taken at different levels [depending on] the gravity of the controversy attached,” Clegg explained.

“The amount of resources we are throwing at this is very considerable.”

One new module being unleashed by Facebook is a virtual war room known as the “Election Operations Center,” which will actively monitor the platform for “suspicious activity” on election day. The Elections Operation Center will also provide real-time results as part of its “voter information hub.”

Meanwhile, Hollywood celebrities and various names on the left are pressuring Zuckerberg to flat-out censor conservative voices on its platform. The highly untalented Selena Gomez, for instance, reportedly private messaged Zuckerberg through Facebook and asked him to please put a stop to all the “hate, misinformation, racism and bigotry” being spread by those who support President Trump.

“How much evidence do these morons who use Facebook have to see before they realize it’s all a con job just to get their information and sell them stuff?” asks one Zero Hedge user, not beating around the bush.

“The idea it’s there for a free exchange of information and ideas is just ludicrous.”
