Rep. Doug Collins pushes resolution to remove Pelosi as House Speaker
(Natural News) On Monday, Oct. 12, Georgia Rep. Doug Collins introduced a resolution pushing for the removal of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, questioning her “mental fitness” to lead the House of Representatives.
“Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s unwillingness to abide by the Constitution, combined with her recent actions, call into question her own mental fitness, which is why it’s critical that the House of Representatives demand her removal from the line of succession,” said Collins to Fox News.
Pelosi has been acting erratically in interviews
In his resolution, Collins questioned Pelosi’s ability to adequately serve as Speaker of the House. He stated that over the tenure of her speakership, Pelosi has continued to demonstrate a decline in mental fitness.
“Over her tenure of her speakership, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has started to demonstrate a decline in mental fitness, calling into question her ability to adequately serve the House of Representatives and the American people,” the resolution states.
Collins specifically referenced an interview in ABC News’ “This Week” where Pelosi “appeared confused and exhibited bizarre behavior.” During the interview, Pelosi gave disjointed answers to many questions and even randomly blurted out “Good Morning, Sunday morning” in response to one question.
This interview, which was supposed to cover how the Democrat-led House would respond to President Donald Trump nominating a replacement for the recently deceased Supreme Court associate justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, was just one instance of Pelosi exhibiting strange behavior on TV.
On Tuesday night, Pelosi seemingly had a meltdown during a CNN interview after host Wolf Blitzer pushed her on the holdup of Trump’s $1.8 trillion coronavirus relief package.
When confronted with this, a fuming Pelosi called Blitzer a “Republican apologist.” She claimed that the CNN host had “no knowledge” of the details of such relief proposals.
“[Americans] really need the money right now,” countered Blitzer. “Even members of your own caucus, madam speaker, want to accept this deal.”
Eventually, Pelosi said that she had pushed back against the Republican-proposed relief package because it had “eliminated” child tax credits and earned income credits.
Pelosi has wasted the House’s time going after Trump
Collins’ resolution comes a week after Pelosi announced legislation to create a commission to allow Congress to oust a president from office, using the 25th Amendment.
Under the 25th Amendment, Congress, the cabinet and the vice president can strip the president of his powers if for some reason he is found unfit to lead under dire circumstances. As part of his resolution, Collins stated that Pelosi “has spent the majority of the House of Representative’s time pursuing baseless and fruitless investigations” against Trump. This includes both the recent move to create the commission as well as the impeachment inquiry that she launched against Trump last year.
Last year, at Pelosi’s urging, the House voted to adopt two articles of impeachment against Trump: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The president was eventually acquitted of the charges this past February.
With her move to create a commission to oust the president, however, Pelosi claims that she isn’t targeting Trump. Instead, she has argued that setting up a commission on presidential capacity was needed to “give some comfort to people” on the stability of the government.
“This is not about President Trump,” said Pelosi on Friday, Oct. 9. “He will face the judgment of the voters. But he shows the need for us to create a process for future presidents.”
That said, the timing of the move is suspect, especially as a day before she made the move, she accused trump of being “in an altered state” due to his coronavirus treatment.
