On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 73rd birthday, receiving warm wishes from President Droupadi Murmu and a host of other dignitaries and politicians.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her hope that PM Modi, with his foresight and strong leadership, would guide India's development across all sectors.

Home Minister Amit Shah praised PM Modi as the architect of a new India, commending his establishment of a robust and self-reliant India rooted in the country's rich heritage.

BJP President JP Nadda, in his well-wishing message, credited the prime minister with solidifying India's global reputation, promoting the multi-dimensional development of its people, and advancing the nation's universal progress. He emphasized that the pursuit of "antyodaya" (upliftment of the most marginalized) has touched every village and societal segment, becoming the guiding principle for India's development.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised PM Modi for not only redefining India's identity but also elevating its stature on the world stage. He wished him good health and a long life, recognizing the prime minister's significant contributions to India's development.

The chief minister of India’s most populous state,  Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath in his column for Times of India called Modi “the architect of a better India”. “Great leaders not only dedicate themselves to a larger goal, but also create institutions and systems to achieve that goal,” Adityanath said. 

Various events are being held across India on Sunday on the occasion of PM's birthday.

On Sunday, PM’s birthday celebration program is packed with events centered around infrastructure development. From inauguration of the first phase of the India International Convention Centre (IICC) in New Delhi and the extension of Delhi Airport express metro line to launching a government scheme, Vishwakarma Project, aimed at helping artisans, craftsmen involved in traditional crafts. The government of India has allocated a budget of 130 billion rupees ($1.5 billion) for the implementation of the scheme for artisans overseen by the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises.

This and other welfare schemes aiming to create an impact on different sections of society is launched under the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s  ‘Sewa Pakhwara',  a fortnight-long outreach across the country. The initiative was launched on Sunday, marking the birthday of the PM, and will continue till October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
