Security cameras were redirected as bomb squad responded to DNC pipe bomb on Jan. 6, disturbing footage shows

Two critical U.S. Capitol Police security cameras aimed at the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) offices during the January 6, 2021, pipe bomb incident were remotely redirected by police, failing to capture crucial segments of the police response, according to information obtained by the Epoch Times.

A detailed examination of the unreleased security footage reveals that Capitol Police Camera 3173, positioned directly across from the DNC bomb site, was remotely shifted away from the scene at 1:29 p.m. on the fateful day, just before the bomb squad intervened. (Related: New evidence strongly indicates that pipe bombs found on Jan. 6 were PLANTED by the FBI.)

Similarly, Camera 8020, located atop the nearby Fairchild Building, was zoomed in on the bomb squad assembling until 1:44 p.m., when the Capitol Police Command Center redirected its focus as a bomb robot approached the DNC.

Sources familiar with the U.S. Capitol Police camera system consider such redirection during an active event as "really odd."

Following these redirections, Camera 3173 pointed at a small park on South Capitol Street Southeast, while Camera 8020 observed distant railroad tracks and a highway overpass for the next 2.5 hours.

Notably, none of the Capitol Police security cameras covering the DNC recorded the Secret Service's security sweep around 11:25 a.m., preceding a visit at the time by Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

Furthermore, the cameras failed to capture the discovery of the DNC pipe bomb by an undercover officer at 1:05 p.m.

Despite Harris' entourage arriving at the DNC around 11:25 a.m., with Secret Service agents present, the security footage reveals a lack of bomb-sniffing dogs and no indication of a security sweep before, during or after her arrival.

The Epoch Times conducted its video review under media access rules in a U.S. House office building.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), chairman of the Committee on House Administration's Subcommittee on Oversight, released video clips surrounding the DNC to the Epoch Times. Loudermilk emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in investigating the events surrounding January 6.

DNC pipe bomb case remains unsolved

This latest revelation comes amid a three-year investigation into the DNC pipe bomb, which remains unsolved.

Questions persist about the security sweep conducted by the Secret Service and how the pipe bomb, discovered later in plain view, went unnoticed during Harris' visit.

The FBI believes the pipe bombs at the DNC and the Capitol Hill Club near the Republican National Committee were planted between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on January 5, 2021, by an individual wearing a gray hoodie and expensive sneakers.

Security footage obtained by columnist Julie Kelly shows what appears to be a bomb-sniffing dog at work near the DNC around 9:29 a.m. on January 6. However, the ATF has not provided details on whether the pipe bombs were operable. The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General is expected to release its investigation, including the DNC pipe bomb response, soon. Former FBI special agent Kyle Seraphin has claimed that the bombs "looked very bomb-like," but no arrests have been made in the case.

Video footage captured by two cameras (8021 and 4205) documented the detection, removal, disarming and destruction of the DNC pipe bomb by a bomb robot. However, two other cameras (3173 and 8020) were redirected away from the scene during critical moments. The destruction of the bomb by a disruptor, designed to disarm explosive devices, was visible in the footage.

The investigation continues, raising concerns about the events surrounding the DNC pipe bomb and the overall response on Jan. 6.
