Republican-controlled House passes $1.2 trillion spending bill, passes it to Senate HOURS before government shutdown
The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has passed a massive $1.2 trillion spending bill, which it then passed to the Democrat-controlled Senate mere hours before the federal government was scheduled to shut down.
"On this vote, the Yeas are 286, the Nays are 134, two-thirds being in the affirmative," was the announced vote. "The rules are suspended, the resolution is agreed-to, and without objection the motion to reconsider is laid on the table."

After being passed to the Senate, the bill was advanced procedurally in a 78 to 18 vote, followed by another vote to pass it with 74 voting for and 24 against. President Joe Biden then signed it into law, funding the government through September.
After signing the pork-laden abomination, Biden thanked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) "for their leadership."

Congress to waste another $1.659 trillion this fiscal year
As usual, there was no actual risk of a substantial government shutdown, even as close as it got to one actually happening. The White House announced it had "ceased shutdown preparations" due to a Senate agreement, which came after Republicans demanded the passage of a series of amendments. After these amendments were included, the House passed the spending bill in a vote of 268 to 134.

Keep in mind that this $1.2 trillion in wasteful spending comes on top of a $459 billion bill that Congress passed earlier this month. Total spending for the current fiscal year has now soared to $1.659 trillion.
"Nothing's easy these days," complained Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) after midnight while the Senate was voting. Murphy did, however, celebrate that Congress passed all 12 appropriations bills in one single year.
"Given the dysfunction of the House and slim majorities here, you know, there's something to be said for the fact that we finally got this done."
All the cash, which will come from U.S. taxpayers' pockets, will go towards funding all the useless federal agencies in Washington.
Upset about the spending bill's passage is the House Freedom Caucus, a group of about 30 ultraconservative lawmakers who thought that they would hold much more leverage over Congress than they actually do.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) called for House Speaker Johnson to be ousted from his position for passing the bill, but it does not appear that anything will come of her proposal.
"This is a bad bill," said Rep. Chip Roy (R-Tex.), a prominent member of the House Freedom Caucus. "We shouldn't put it on the floor and leadership owns it. This bill in real time is a failure. So we're going to have to figure out what to do about it."
On X, many people were outraged over the bill's passage, including one account calling for everyone to "stop paying taxes."
"This is beyond treasonous," this same account wrote about the spending bill.
Another warned that this action by Congress, including both sides of the political aisle, shows that "power has replaced public service" in D.C.
"They lie. They cheat. They exploit. They censor. They fabricate. They manipulate. They push a self-serving narrative ... The perils of government transpire when the corrupt and self-serving are allowed to dictate without consequence."
Someone else called the spending bill "$1.2 trillion spend on blackmail and bribes."
"This money should instead serve the taxpayers."
