RAW EGG NATIONALIST: Tennessee Bans Geoengineering

14-4-2024 < SGT Report 18 1041 words

by Raw Egg Nationalist, The National Pulse:

In a welcome development, Tennessee has become the first state in the United States to ban geoengineering. Geoengineering is any form of deliberate intervention to alter the earth’s climate. As the so-called “climate crisis” has deepened, a scenario that was once the province of science fiction and cranks has become a frightening possibility. State and non-state actors are testing large-scale geoengineering projects with a view to implementing them soon. The actual effects of geo-engineering remain anybody’s guess.

The Tennessee House of Representatives and the state Senate have approved a bill targeting several geoengineering technologies. These include attempts to modify the amount of solar radiation reaching the earth, whether by physical barriers in the high atmosphere, through spreading reflective chemicals in the sky, or by practices like cloud-seeding, which is used to increase the amount of rainfall over a particular area. If the bill is signed by the state governor, Republican Bill Lee, it will go into effect on July 1.

‘CONSPIRACY THEORISTS.’

Coverage of the bill focused largely on the “conspiracist” aspects of the debate, particularly the well-known “chemtrails conspiracy theory.” Its proponents hold that aircraft are being used to disperse harmful chemicals in their contrails.

The Washington Times ran with the headline, “Tennessee lawmakers vote to ban geoengineering, with allusions to ‘chemtrails’ conspiracy.” It noted that “the legislative debate was not without controversy” as “dialogue among legislators occasionally blurred the lines between evidenced reality and speculation.” A Democrat representative, John Ray Clemmons from Nashville, even tabled an amendment introducing protection for cryptids, including Bigfoot.

“This amendment would make sure that we are protecting yetis, or Sasquatch or Bigfoot, from whatever this conspiracy is that we’re passing in this legislation,” he said.

In an interview with the BBC, Clemmons added, “This legislation is not to be taken seriously.” He noted that many of his fellow lawmakers believed in QAnon “conspiracy theories” about vaccines being added to food.

Regardless of whether climate modification has been taking place secretly for decades, as some proponents of the chemtrails theory believe, there can be no denying that climate modification is taking place worldwide and that we are only likely to see more of it in the coming months and years.

GEOENGINEERING IS HAPPENING NOW.

In February, the National Pulse reported on a Wall Street Journal story detailing three ongoing geoengineering experiments taking place across the globe, with government and private funding. There is now a clear shift away from caution about the possible adverse side-effects of geoengineering, the story noted, to a belief that any risks are worth taking to avoid catastrophic climate change or at least buy some extra time to make even more sweeping changes to the global regime of carbon-emission reduction.

“The shift reflects growing concern that efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions aren’t moving fast enough… Geoengineering isn’t a substitute for reducing emissions, according to scientists and business leaders involved in the projects. Rather, it is a way to slow climate warming in the next few years while buying time to switch to a carbon-free economy in the longer term.”

The story reveals that at least three geoengineering experiments are taking place in Australia, Israel, and the U.S. In Australia, researchers from Southern Cross University are releasing a brine mixture into the sky to create larger, brighter clouds that will reflect more sunlight and reduce local temperatures. The Australian government, universities, and conservation organizations are funding the project.

In Israel, a startup called Stardust Solutions is testing a delivery system to disperse reflective particles at high altitudes, again to reduce solar radiation. The startup is currently testing the system indoors but will move to outdoor tests in the “next few months.”

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute plans to add 6,000 gallons of sodium hydroxide into the ocean off Martha’s Vineyard. They aim to produce a carbon sink that draws carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and into the sea. The U.S. government and private sources fund the project. The release of the chemical will require further approval from the Environmental Protection Agency.

THE MAKE SUNSETS SCANDAL.

The Wall Street Journal story came just over a year after a shocking revelation about California startup Make Sunsets. In January 2023, Make Sunsets admitted to launching weather balloons containing sulfur dioxide to gauge their effectiveness at releasing the chemical at high altitudes. Sulfur dioxide is a chemical of great interest to would-be geoengineers because of its ability to reflect solar radiation. Large quantities of sulfur dioxide are released during volcanic eruptions. These are responsible for the documented global cooling effects of major eruptions.

The revelation that the launches were conducted in Mexico without government approval drew significant criticism from the scientific community. Mexico’s government announced it would prevent further launches within its territory.

Make Sunsets CEO Luke Eisen was unrepentant. He said the company would continue to release as much sulfur into the atmosphere as “we can get customers to pay us” to release. The startup offers a “cooling credit” system, where customers pay $10 for a gram of sulfur dioxide for use as a payload in future balloon launches.

RUSS GEORGE.

The unilateral efforts of Make Sunsets to alter the climate echoed those of Russ George a decade earlier. In 2012, George dumped 100 tons of iron sulfate in the Pacific off British Columbia. He wanted to improve salmon numbers by creating a massive algal bloom that would also sequester large quantities of carbon from the atmosphere in the depths of the ocean. According to George, the experiment was successful, producing a record salmon harvest for native peoples of the Pacific seaboard. However, he was roundly condemned by scientists and governments and only narrowly escaped prosecution.

In 2010, two years before George’s experiment, political scientist David Victor warned of “[a] lone Greenfinger, self-appointed protector of the planet and working with a small fraction of the Gates bank account, [who] could force a lot of geoengineering on his own.” Now, in 2024, it’s not just eccentrics like Russ George who have designs on changing the earth’s climate. It’s governments, universities, and corporations, too, and they have all the money in the world.
