ABSURD AND DANGEROUS: Hope Has No Borders opens hotline to pair illegal immigrants with Colorado families

A Denver organization has set up a new hotline that will pair illegal immigrants with families in Colorado who are willing to host them in their homes.

The Hope Has No Borders (HHNB) organization began pairing migrant workers and their families with hosts in late 2023. With the help of the charity nonprofit United Way, HHNB has expanded its operations and accelerated the pairing by way of the hotline. Erin Lennon is one of the many hosts HHNB has paired with immigrants. Lennon, through the organization's pairing process which asks questions to find a perfect match for a home, welcomed a Chilean family of four to stay with her and her son. She was the first person in the program to host a migrant family.

HHNB is currently looking for host families in Denver and 26 other counties in Colorado who are willing to sign up to host so-called "migrant families."

"Hope Has No Borders is a nonprofit that was formed out of a grassroots movement of community members that became really active in trying to assist migrants back in early November, when there began to be a huge influx of buses dropping people in our city," HHNB Executive Director Jenifer Kettering said in an interview.

While the migrants are housed, Kettering noted that HHNB will be providing case management resources. For the host families, the organization provides financial allowances for essentials such as food and to help manage the payment of utility bills.

Kettering noted that prospective hosts will be interviewed regarding their lifestyle, what type of housing they can provide and how long they will be willing to open up their properties to the migrants.

"It can be a room in your house, it could be an Airbnb that has some periods of low occupancy and you're willing to open it up for that period of time. It can be for a week, for respite and emergency situations. It could be for three months or a year, however long you want to negotiate," Kettering added.

HHNB putting local families in harm's way

However, HHNB may be putting local families in danger. Illegal immigrants are not exactly a peaceful bunch.

In New York City (NYC), many local residents are reportedly wanting to relocate as the surge in illegal immigrants continues to strain city resources.

They want to leave due to high crime rates, high cost of living and the declining standard of living – all of which are made worse by the rising amount of resources being allotted to care for the increasing immigrant population.

Authorities have blamed the soaring crime and violence on growing numbers of so-called "asylum seekers" coming to NYC with undeclared connections to Latin American street gangs, a number of which are known for drug smuggling, human trafficking and murder.

For instance, an illegal alien stabbed a fellow immigrant over a dispute involving a woman in a shelter in NYC. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Dafren Canizalez, was rushed to the nearby Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect, 26-year-old Moises Coronado, attempted to flee but was caught by security and taken into custody.
