Apple has removed around 25,000 apps from its service after the Chinese government criticized the company for not doing enough to monitor content.

As the company makes further commitments to China amidst the ongoing trade war, the stakes are getting higher.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal:

U.S. companies are paying close attention to the messages they get from the Chinese government and the state media in this sensitive trade environment, said Ben Cavender, a director at China Market Research Group who focuses on consumer technology and retail.

“They are going to move very quickly to try to rectify that problem, because this is a situation where there could be a lot more backlash in the government in terms of regulations,” Mr. Cavender said.

As big tech companies move across the globe, internet regulations in the EU and China are impacting users in the United States.

The European Union’s GDPR legislation, under the guise of “privacy protection”, grants the “right to be forgotten”. This law directly effects the free speech of journalists world-wide.

Additionally, China’s cyber security legislation requires U.S. companies operating there to hand over source codes for products to the Chinese government, raising serious national security and privacy issues.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, along with Google executive Sundar Pichai made their first appearance at China’s World Internet Conference last year, signaling their intent to make moves to the country.

A de-facto social credit system is attempting to creep into the United States through unelected multinational corporations who have become slaves to the communist Chinese.

President Trump has vowed to not allow censorship to happen in the United States. He tweeted Saturday morning, “Social Media is totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices”.

Trump made it clear that “we won’t let that happen”.

The President added that ““All of the fools that are so focused on looking only at Russia should start also looking in another direction, China. But in the end, if we are smart, tough and well prepared, we will get along with everyone!”
