As Winter Storm Arrives, Chaos Unfolds At Chicago O'Hare As Passenger Jet Slides Off Runway

A fast-moving winter storm is dumping snow across the Plains, Midwest, and Northeast early this week.

The latest round of snow will be accompanied by a blast of Arctic Air, something that we've recently warned about.

The cold air is expected to plunge temperatures 20 to 30 degrees below normal averages for central and eastern US regions by midweek.

Hazardous conditions have already been reported in cities such as Denver, Detroit, Omaha, Kansas City, Des Moines, Chicago, and Milwaukee.

Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is one of the heaviest impacted airports at the moment.

By 10:00 am est, nearly 194 flights have been delayed, and 66 have been canceled.

Andrea Blanford, a reporter for ABC11 in Raleigh, North Carolina, was one of the first on Twitter to post a scary video of American Airlines flight 4125, sliding off the runway about an hour ago.

As seen in the video below, weather conditions were awful as the Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft, holding 38 passengers, landed at ORD and immediately slid off the runway.

Blanford said 38 passengers and three crew members were deplaned with no injuries.

The Embraer ERJ-145 has been towed back to the terminal for a safety inspection after it appears the left wing could've been damaged during the incident.

The winter storm will eventually sweep across western and central New York to northern New England by late Monday.

By Tuesday, the storm could produce rain, snow, sleet, and or freezing rain along the Interstate 95 corridor from Philadelphia northward.

Major Northeast cities should expect little to no snow accumulation from this storm.
