From university uprisings to viral debates between the left and right, the question of Palestinian liberation — and Americans’ support for it — is at the front of everyone’s minds this week. Especially ours! That’s why we talked to Dave Smith about the debate he did on the topic with Dennis Prager and several other notable commentators a while back, which has garnered tons of views and generated major conversation on the left and the right alike. We got him for an exclusive interview to talk about it. Watch below:

From the UCs to Columbia and all the way through the country, students are forming a mass uprising to support Palestinians, oppose Israel’s genocide, and challenge the norms of supposed “free speech” at their wealthy universities. The solidarity encampments, at which students have been arrested, harassed by police officers, hauled off campus and expelled, and otherwise put at risk, reveal the absolute urgency young people in America are feeling about the genocide that our country is bankrolling and that many of our universities are abetting, whether through ties to donors, relationships with Israeli academic and cultural institutions, or actual financial investment in the occupation.

The high visibility of these protests on social media have brought conversation on the genocide in Gaza to the fore. Dave Smith, a libertarian comedian, is also thinking about the unforgivable atrocities Israel has perpetrated in Palestine, and to that end, he recently debated Dennis Prager and Batya Ungar-Sargon (alongside Cenk Uygur). In this debate, Dave shares his fiery and brilliant perspective, making a clear case for boycotting, sharing why his politics lead him to support a ceasefire, and much more. Now, we’re talking to him about the aftermath of the debate, touching on the wildest points made by the other side, why he continues to voice his support for Palestine, and much more.

This episode will be available tomorrow on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and more.
