Dear Friend of The Nation,

College students across the country have been holding anti-war protests on their campuses.

However, on many campuses students have been met with police force, flares, arrests, and suspensions.

Students should be allowed to protest peacefully without the threat of canceled graduation and police in riot gear clearing out occupations.

“We need to prevent lawlessness in society. We need to have protection against hate speech,” said Patrick Gaspard, president of the Center for American Progress. “But we need to be able to hold space for active dissent and activism that is discomforting without blanket accusations of hate and violence against all activists,” he continued.

The First Amendment protects the right to assemble and express views through protest. Students deserve this right to be protected. Sign the petition today to allow students the right to protest.
