(Natural News) In the United States, it seems there is no greater power than that of victimhood. Thanks to Twitter outrage culture and a corrupt media, being a victim not only puts you on the path to fame and stardom, but for some reason, gives credence to your opinions. And now, we are seeing the full ramifications of what happens when society puts such an extreme emphasis on “victim status.”From celebrities to school children, everyone is vying for their fifteen minutes of victimized glory — even if they have to fake it.

A sixth-grade black student at Immanuel Christian School recently claimed that a group of white students held her down, cut her dreadlocks and screamed racial slurs at her on the playground during recess. Obviously, such behavior is unacceptable and school officials were quick to investigate the situation. But now, it turns out the whole thing was a ruse.

Sixth-grade subterfuge?

As Breitbart reports, 12-year-old Amari Allen initially claimed that three white male classmates held her down on the playground, covering her mouth while they cut her hair and called her horrible names.

Leftist media outlets were quick to shame Immanuel Christian School and make note of the fact that Vice President Mike Pence’s wife works at the school part-time. Salacious headlines were produced, and conjectures were made (or at least, heavily pointed to).

A tweet from author Steve Silberman reportedly declares, “This is the kind of ‘religious liberty’ championed by this administration of bigots.” Twitter was overrun with similarly seething statements on the matter.

Now, the sixth-grade student says she made it all up and Allen’s grandparents have issued an apology for the “pain and anxiety” these hefty allegations have caused the boys and their parents.

“To the administrators and families of Immanuel Christian School, we are sorry for the damage this incident has done to trust within the school family and the undue scorn it has brought to the school. To the broader community, who rallied in such passionate support for our daughter, we apologize for betraying your trust,” the grandparents’ statement continued.

The school also issued a statement, thanking the local police department for assisting with the investigation and confirming that the allegations levied by Allen were indeed false.

Fake victims and outrage culture

The story of Amari Allen is one we’ve seen play out far too many times. The left-wing media picks up a story without waiting for the facts, and runs it as a campaign to slander all things right-wing. The Jussie Smollet and Covington Catholic hoaxes come to mind.

Earlier this year, actor Jussie Smollet claimed that he was attacked by a couple of white Trump supporters on the streets of Chicago in the middle of the night. Smollet alleged that two men beat him up, called him racial slurs, poured a “bleach-like substance” on him, and then put a noose around his neck.

When Smollet first launched these allegations, liberals ate it up, promoting the story as further proof that all Trump supporters (nay, all conservatives) are bigoted racists. But as it turns out, Smollet made the entire story up for his own personal gain. The official story is that Smollet’s little charade was for a pay raise.

Regardless of the reason, everyone should be disgusted with this kind of behavior. Instead, children are apparently starting to follow his lead.
